Sherwin and Pam Linton |
|
A Country Music Legend, a true gentleman, a raconteur and storyteller, Sherwin Linton is a man with thousands of friends. He launched his career in the music business in the mid 1950's as a disc jockey and live performer of Rock-A-Billy Music on radio station KWAT in Watertown, South Dakota. Sherwin moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1957, and expanded his territory from the Midwest to playing nightclubs and ballrooms throughout the country. He journeyed to Nashville in 1966 where he cut "Cotton King," a song that catapulted him to the top of the Country charts. Roy Acuff, with whom Sherwin toured, was so impressed with Linton's talents that Sherwin was signed to the legendary Acuff-Rose Publishing Company and Hickory Records, resulting in numerous TV show appearances and cost-to-coast tours. Following the release of a 1971 live album "Hello, I'm Not Johnny Cash" Linton received multiple national nominations for the CMA and ACM. Subsequent hits included the 1986 novelty song, "Santa Got A DWI," an anti-drunk driving song that hit the charts and has become a Christmas favorite. Sherwin is a member of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, the South Dakota Musicians Hall of Fame, and the National Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame. For the past twenty four years Pam Linton has shared the stage with her husband Sherwin. Pam can best be described as "Hollywood Down Home." She has the style of a celebrity super star and the friendly qualities of the girl next door. Her 1996 recordings "Silver & Gold" and "River Of No Return" earned her independent chart placement in Australia, The Netherlands, Slovenia, and The United States. Her 2002 recording of the classic "Wildwood Flower" is believe to be the only recording ever made using the original lyrics penned in 1860. Audiences are amazed at the big voice that comes from this little lady that can stop the show with her "Tribute To Tammy Wynette." Pam is a 2002 inductee into the National Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame. When this awesome pair takes the stage with their band at fairs, festivals, casinos, and performing arts centers, audiences are totally entertained by their showmanship and eclectic variety of music.
